Line 2 of the Turin Metro is intended to connect the entire City of Turin and the neighboring first belt from North to South.

The main route runs from Rebaudengo Station, located in Northern Turin, along a decommissioned railway entrenchment to Via Bologna, from which it diverts to the center of Turin. In the city’s historic center, a 4-level museum station is planned to be developed in Carlo Alberto Square. The Porta Nuova station will be an interchange area with the railway lines and the existing Line 1 of the Turin Metro. The route continues toward the Politecnico of Turin and via Orbassano connecting all the Southern districts of Turin with the rest of the city. Two junction artifacts are provided at the urban area boundary areas, from which the extensions branch off to the north, connecting the city of San Mauro, and to the south, connecting the cities of Beinasco, Rivalta Torinese, and Orbassano. There are also two railroad depots, one to the north, in the Pescarito San Mauro area, and one to the south, in the Cemetery Park area, and two interchange areas with vehicular mobility (level parking lots).

The main tube has a diameter of 8.6 m, with the insertion of two subway tracks. The Line will have natural tunnel sections excavated with TBMs, artificial tunnel sections, and, at the beginning and end of the route, open-cut sections.
