The intervention involves the construction of a new bridge over the Ceronda stream, a traffic circle on the axis of B-road 1 and the connecting elements necessary to insert the new works within the existing road network.
The bridge in the chosen design solution is included between two traffic circles: one on the left bank to be built on B-road 1 (called the Stefanat traffic circle) and one on the right bank (called the Castellamonte traffic circle).
The bridge has a road section of type F, local urban road (2 lanes of 2.75 m and platforms of 0.50 m for a total width of the platform of 6.50 m), according to the Ministerial Decree 5/11/2001 “Functional and geometric standards for the construction of roads”.
The lane width of 2.75 m was increased to 3.50 m in accordance with paragraph 3.4.1 of the aforementioned Ministerial Decree, as it is subject to the transit of heavy vehicles. Further widening has been applied to the platform, which will have a width of 1.00 m to increase safety towards the lateral pedestrian component. The platform will therefore have a total dimension of 9.00m.
The deck is completed by two bicycle and pedestrian sidewalks of 3.25m each finished in luserna stone slabs, bordered outward by a parapet frame with corten-finished saucers. The bridge, to align with Via Castellamonte, will be oblique to the existing one and will form an angle of about 30° with the orthogonal to the Ceronda axis. The net span of the bridge, from shoulder to shoulder, will be about 80 m (two bays of 26.30 m and one bay of 26.73 m).
